Clearline Energy Pty Ltd (ABN 58 702 723 626) (“Clearline”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Information we collect
We collect the information we need to compare and arrange energy contracts for your business. This may include:
- Your name, job title, email address and phone number
- Your business name, ABN and site addresses
- Energy account details, including your current retailer, NMI and MIRN numbers, energy usage, tariffs and contract end dates
- Copies of energy bills and any Letter of Authority you sign
- Notes of our phone calls, and copies of emails and other messages between us
- Basic technical information when you visit our website, such as your browser type and the pages you view
How we collect it
We collect information directly from you when you fill in our quote form, call or email us, send us a bill, or sign a Letter of Authority. With your authority, we may also collect information about your energy accounts from energy retailers, distributors and metering providers.
Dealing with us anonymously
You can ask general questions about our services without telling us who you are. To prepare quotes or arrange a contract, though, we need to know who you are and which sites the quote is for.
If you don’t give us your information
If you choose not to give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to get quotes for you, arrange a contract, or provide our services to the same standard.
How we use it
- To request, compare and present energy offers for your business
- To arrange and manage contracts on your behalf
- To check your bills and raise disputes with retailers
- To remind you about renewals and contract end dates
- To respond to your questions and provide customer support
- To send you energy market updates, where you have not opted out
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations
Who we share it with
We only share your information where it’s needed to provide our service, or where the law requires it. This may include:
- Energy retailers, so they can prepare offers and set up your contract
- Energy distributors and metering providers, to obtain your usage data
- Service providers who help us run our business, such as IT, email, data storage and CRM providers
- Regulators, ombudsman schemes or law enforcement agencies, where required by law
Energy retailers may carry out credit checks on your business as part of their own application process, and may ask for a personal credit check on a director or guarantor. Retailers handle your information under their own privacy policies.
We do not sell your personal information.
Storage overseas
Some of our service providers, such as cloud email and data storage providers, may store information on servers outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected to a standard similar to the Australian Privacy Principles.
Marketing
We may send you updates about the energy market or our services by email, SMS or phone, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, replying STOP to an SMS, or contacting us.
Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure. When we no longer need your information, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website may use cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. We may also use cookies for online advertising, including showing our ads to people who have visited our website before (remarketing). Cookies on their own don’t usually identify you personally.
You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, although some parts of the site may not work as intended. You can also use our website without giving us any personal information. We only collect it when you choose to send it, for example through our quote form.
